JOHOR BHARU

As the capital state of Johor, Johor Bahru is situated along the Straits of Johor specifically located at the southern end of Peninsular Malaysia. With a population of close to 500,000, the state accommodates people from all walks of life and has also established itself as a main tourist destination within the country thanks to a great range of family destinations.   • Named after one of the founding fathers of Johor Bahru, Jalan Tan Hoik Nee is known to be one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city. Visitors will find a number of entertaining cafes and restaurants. Antique shops are highly contretated within the area too!
  • One of the first zoos built in Southeast Asia, the Johor Zoo has been around since 1928, hosting over a hundred different species of animals. For those travelling with children, this location would be a great pick as they may interact with some of the animals available.
  • Constructed in 1866, the Istana Besar, or Royal Palace was considered as the Sultan of Johor’s home back in the day. The building showcases a remarkable mix of Malay and Western architecture.
  • Another great option for those travelling with kids would be the Legoland Malaysia. Opened in 2012, the amusement park has a mix of water rides, bumper cars and places as well as a laser quest maze!
  • Visitors who are big fans of Angry Birds, the mobile app game would love visiting the Angry Birds Theme Park. Dedicated to everything Angry Birds, it covers a large 26,000 square feet filled with rides and amusement arcades for those looking for a good time.
  • Considered to be one of the most important Hindu architectures in Johor, the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple happens to tbe the first Hindu building made of glass. Glittering with the shining sun, both the interior and exterior is a sight to behold.
